My Story

Marcia Warnick founder of Cashmere Clothing Co.

Meet Marcia

While Deep Creek Lake has   many unique shopping   experiences, options for   women's clothing has not   been one of them. And   while local photographer   Marcia Warnick never   saw herself fulfilling   that role, a chance meeting   literally changed her life’s   direction.

Marcia, a Grantsville native,   had a position working at Railey Realty as assistant to co-owner Bill Weisgerber.  In addition to photography, Marcia was involved in the marketing aspect at Railey. At a marketing seminar last January, Marcia took a class with a woman from the same town in Minnesota in which Marcia had lived years ago.

The woman had a successful clothing boutique which piqued Marcia’s interest.

After a lengthy conversation where Marcia learned the ins and outs of the clothing business, and an offer of mentoring from the boutique owner, Marcia knew she had found a new path and so Cashmere Clothing was born.

“I always thought we needed to have that kind of boutique at Deep Creek,” said Marcia. “Something with clothing that would appeal not only to vacationers but priced so that locals could afford them as well.”

Under the guidance of her new mentor, Marcia went on her first buying trip to the Los Angeles Fashion District, featuring 100 square blocks of vendors, where she made her initial buys and contracted with several quality vendors as her main suppliers. After much discussion, Marcia decided on the name (much of the clothing here is soft, supple and feels extravagant), and opened her doors just a few months later.

Cashmere Clothing offers something for everyone.  Here you’ll find everything from jeans to t-shirts to a new work outfit in sizes Small to 3X.  “We have a variety of comfortable work dresses as well as casual and athleisure wear,” she explains.  Marcia gets new items in weekly and the shop is filling up with beautiful sweaters, skirts and jackets for the fall in lovely colors that any woman can appreciate.

In addition to beautiful clothing, Marcia carries a unique line of hand-crafted jewelry, including fresh water pearls, and unique accessories to complete any outfit.

With Marcia’s personalized customer service, large selection and roomy dressing room,  Cashmere Clothing is a place where everyone can feel comfortable. “Because of our location, people think we cater only to vacationers but that’s just not true.  Locals are the backbone of our business."

Marcia knows her target audience and keeps this in mind when choosing her merchandise.  “While we have a large selection of clothing for all sizes and ages, we do not cater to juniors,” explains Marcia. “My shoppers are women who want to be stylish and on trend no matter what their age. They want comfortable but unique pieces that can be worn over and over again.”
